Statepark Stables

STATEPARK STABLES is the thoroughbred breeding and horse racing branch of STATEPARK Ltd UK. The move to Greece in 2002 found the company with breeding and racing interests in the UK, Germany, Italy and Greece with Cyprus soon to follow in 2004.

STATEPARK built and ran the first and only stallion station in Greece having purchased and stood stallions of a high caliber for the region. Namely HAMAS (DANZIG – July Cup Gr1), PRENUP (SMARTEN – Jerome H. USA Gr1), LUGANA BEACH (TUMBLE WIND – multiple Gr3, 2 nd Prix de L'Abbaye Gr1), CHROMITE (MR. PROSPECTOR - Full-brother to leading sire WOODMAN), LUJAIN (SEEKING THE GOLD - Middle Park S. Gr1), WAR DEPUTY (DEPUTY MINISTER – Kentucky JC S. Gr3 and a leading sire in Canada), MISSED FLIGHT (DOMINION - Prix du Rond-Point FR Gr2 and multiple Gr1 placed) and local champion PAOK (CELTIC SWING) among others.

TALAASH (DARSHAAN – FR Gr3 winner and a $700k yearling) and TAKHLID (NUREYEV – winner of 20 races in the UK and a $750k yearling) both stood in Bulgaria and Cyprus for STATEPARK.

STATEPARK STABLES operated the farm at Kastro for just a few years having produced a small number of homebreds who nevertheless exceeded expectations. ELLISPONDOS (LAKE CONISTON), the first ever foal to be born on the farm, was a multiple local stakes winner and 3 rd in his Derby,

ELVEN KING (MUJADIL) won the Cyprus 2000 Guinness in a record time, DANTE AMARAL (CHROMITE) was the hot favorite in his Derby only to break down in the race. He was later to make his reappearance after a 2 year layoff winning 6 races on the trot. Notable successes came from the Elia Stud team whose breeding program was managed solely by STATEPARK, with numerous local classic and stakes wins with homebreds by LUJAIN and WAR DEPUTY. LENON (WAR DEPUTY) a local 2000 Guinness winner still resides at the farm.

WINDSTRIKE (DIKTAT) represented and was a winner for STATEPARK in Germany, Italy and Cyprus having started her career in Athens. She was notably placed 4 th in a Lister Race in San Siro on turf. STATEPARK enjoyed more European success both at the track and at the sales ring with syndicated MISS ASSERTIVE (ZAFONIC) who placed 3 rd twice in Listed Races in Newmarket, trained by Nick Littmoden, and she was later sold for 6 figures as a broodmare prospect. HUNTER STREET (COMPTON PLACE), also syndicated by Blandford Bloodstock, was 2 nd at the Flying Childers St. Gr2 at Doncaster before winning the Cornwallis St. Gr3 at Salisbury and he was also later sold for a 6 figure sum to continue his career in Italy.
